I am extremely pleased with Fromm’s strop that I recently purchased. I can understand some customers being dissatisfied with the strops out of the box condition. It is not ready to use right of. I took the advice of another reviewers comment and have used 600-grit sandpaper to lighten the color of the leather and texture, rinsed with water and dried, and sanded again with an 800-grit sandpaper to give it some extra smoothness. Make sure to sand carefully to avoid removing too much of the leather. I have been applying Fromm’s 364 Strop dressing once a day—for three days now—allowing it to dry over night and continue to use a steel roller to flatten it. As of day three the strop is breaking in nicely and is as smooth as can be. I will continue to apply the dressing and rolling it because this is a beautiful strop I plan on getting a lot of use out of it. I strongly recommend this product to anyone who is on the fence about purchasing it. I am new to straight razor shaving, however I have enjoyed taking the time to break in the stop properly.

I first bought a cheap Razor Strop when it arrived I was not impressed sent it back.. Remembered seeing this one thought ok give it a try .. It arrived in a flat box that’s good .. I took it out even better you can take it apart put buffing compound on one side flip it over put a different grit on the other . Now I’m pleased after a few minutes I can tell my knife blade is going the direction I want .. Only problem I found is the hook on the end is cheesy it’s trying to straighten out already it will be replaced when I get to hardware store ..

After reading the one negative review, I was a little nervous- but I had no reason to be. The strop was shipped in a 4″x4″x32″ box and arrived perfectly flat. The materials and construction are excellent. This strop has four stropping surfaces, two sides of the substantial linen strop (with it’s own leather handle) and the two sides of the thick, perfectly flat leather. The two parts are held together with a brassy swivel clamp that is secured with a knurled nut and a little carriage bolt.I care a lot for my razors and knives, and for a production piece, this is the nicest strop I’ve seen. I’ll probably treat one side of the linen with green chromium, and if the leather ever needs some attention I’ll give it a light smear of mink oil and a light pass with a heat gun (on low) or hairdryer to wick the oil in.Ignore the negative review. The problems he mentioned have clearly been addressed.

I’ve never owned or used a strop before. Just getting started on using a straight razor for shaving. Bought this based off of reviews and videos on YouTube. It seems to be made of quality materials and the stitching is good. The leather is in good condition, no flaws or issues with the naked eye. Says Made in USA right on it which I like. The most important thing I can say is that it arrived packed very securely in a box which was big enough for it to lay completely flat in. It wasn’t folded or rolled at all. I read a lot of reviews of other products and the #1 complaint I kept seeing was that the strops they received were damaged from being folded or rolled. They made sure to pack this with a lot of packing material and in a big box to prevent damage from packing and shipping. I would recommend based off my experience so far.

The leather isn’t quality. It’s thick and I’ve tried to flatten out the warped parts, but you can’t fix everything. There’s a decent portion of the leather stretching about 6″ to work with but the rest is garbage. The best part of this strop is the fabric strip.
