In addition to offering modern convenience, the set & forget programmable slow cooker has three choices for easy, automatic cooking: program, probe and manual mode. On busy days, program the cooking time and set & forget slow cooker automatically shifts to keep warm when the cooking time is up. Cooking a large cut of meat like pot roast, chicken, or pork tenderloin? Insert the probe, set the desired meat temperature and the set & forget slow cooker automatically shifts to keep warm when the temperature is reached.
For traditional slow cooking, manually select the high, low or warm temperature without setting a cooking time. Thermometer probe for precise results.

A few months ago, we decided to save money by cooking our own food. (We had been eating Trader Joe’s frozen meals and going out and that gets expensive very quickly.) Thing is, neither my husband nor I love cooking all that much. So I guess it comes as no surprise that I am terrible at it. However, I did come across an awesome blog called a year of slow cooking that presented me with a bunch of easy-to-make recipes in very little time. (Since then I have found other blogs with other recipes: Get Crocked and 365 days of slow cooking for example but a year of slow cooking is still my favorite.) The recipe problem solved, I started cooking using my small, old, and very basic crockpot. And that crockpot was doable but some recipes call for cooking on low for 9 hours; others for 6 and really all I want is to throw the ingredients into the crockpot and forget about it.My old basic crockpot didn’t let me do that. The Hamilton Beach, on the other hand does. And it is so easy to use! I hate electronics (ask my husband) but I can operate this crockpot with ease. You just press the on button (the red circle on the left) then select the time by pushing the up/down arrows on the right, press enter, select the heat setting press enter and you’re done. Once it’s finished, it goes to Warm setting so your food doesn’t spoil. This means that if you set it on a Friday night and want to sleep in Saturday morning, you can. You really don’t have to worry about getting up just to turn off the crockpot. If you are cooking a full chicken or something as big as that you can use the thermometer probe and set your own temperature you want maintained to make sure that meat is cooked properly. It also has one of those lids that locks down with simple lever clamps at each end so now I can be one of “those” people who takes up the office kitchen because we are having a potluck. The lid does have a rubber seal but do be sure to keep it upright because there are small vent holes and a hole for the probe to be inserted through the glass lid.All in all, this really is a set it and forget it crockpot (as advertised). It is also worth noting (because this has been in the news) that Healing Gourmet (a food safety site) lists Hamilton as one of the ten brands to look for when choosing a crockpot and that wirecutter (a site that reviews the gadgets in our lives) tells us that this crockpot “outperformed much more expensive models.” In a couple of negative reviews I have seen, there were complaints about the glass breaking. The instructions say to only clamp down the lid when transporting food. My husband says that there is a good chance that tightening the lid while cooking would put extra stress on the glass making it more likely to break/shatter. So bear this in mind.I admit I haven’t tried those more expensive models (the whole point of using a crockpot to begin with was to save money) but I have to admit I am a little in love with this crockpot and highly recommend it.

Unreal how great this thing is. Let me first address some of the negative comments I read before deciding to take a chance on this cooker:YES, the outside metal gets hot, VERY hot. Most cooking utensils do, so I really don’t understand the point. It DOES NOT get hot enough underneath to harm the counter top.The control panel is attached with four Allen screws. It’s NOT coming off.I never detected a bad oder coming from the cooker. Now for some praise:The timer works flawlessly. Can’t wait to try the probe on chicken breasts and pork loins.Unlike two Crock Pots, after eight hours of cooking on LOW nothing was burned to the sides of the ceramic pot.My only criticism is that it would have been really nice if the clamps for the glass top were hinged on the ceramic pot instead of the cooker. That way I could just clamp the top onto the pot and stick it into the fridge. Not a deal breaker by any means. This cooker is going to significantly cut our electric bill. Nearly every meal I fix in the oven can be cooked in the Set ‘n Forget.April 15,2018 update: We have cooked in this pot about a dozen times and we are loving it more and more. We mostly cook with the temperature probe and meats are perfect every time. We have nothing but praise for this appliance.

Really nice slow cooker. The only thing I would change is the auto shut off after 14 hours. I use it for bone broth, which typically takes 36 – 48 hours. There should be a way to override this. The manual does warn about the auto shut off, but it’s kind of buried at the end of each cooking mode section, so it’s easy to miss. The first time I used it for a long broth cook, I woke up to a warm pot. Fortunately, it had only shut off an hour prior, so I was able to save to pot of liquid gold! Just be sure to stop and restart the cooker before going to bed. Overall, great cooker.

Glad I chose this product. Dodnt want to spend a bundle but needed a large capacity cooker that was programmable. This seemed to fit the bill and it certainly did! Cooked a 5lb brisket the day after I received it. Set it to low for 8 hours and went to work. Came home to a perfectly cooked roast and it had switched over to warm. Doesn’t get better. Didn’t even know about the cord storage until I read some more reviews today. Awesome bonus.
Only thing I really want to clear up is that the dimensions listed are way off. The only accurate one is the width. I didn’t worry about them so it wouldn’t have and didn’t effect my purchase at all but I see lots of people asking. Tonight I came home and took pictures with a tape measurer. I’ve attached them.
Love this cooker!

This is actually the third Hamilton Beach 6-Quart Slow Cooker that I’ve purchased. My original (that I believe I’ve had for 3 years) still works great and is in my home. We needed to bring two crockpot dishes to a church function 2 years ago so I purchased a second Hamilton Beach 6-Quart Slow Cooker. I ended up donating that one to our church as they did not have a slow cooker in their kitchen equipment. Both of these slow cookers have provided many delicious meals and none have spilled out thanks to the locking lid (transport clips). So why the third slow cooker you might ask? Our daughter got married out of town in May ’19 and was having a potluck at the reception. The photo I’ve included is the beef recipe that I made for the reception. Since the wedding was out of town and we no longer had the box for our slow cooker, I ordered the third Hamilton Beach 6-Quart Slow Cooker to help with packing everything for our trip. I also, intended to leave it with our daughter to use in her kitchen. By the way, she loves hers, too.
I love that it’s an appliance that continues to work well, is not expensive and does not spill during any transport. Have you ever had to clean up part of your car after slow cooker spillage? This slow cooker prevents those mishaps.

I had one of those in-law gave it to me for the holidays crockpot that sucked. it was off, med, high and thats it. Then it cracked. So I got the crockpot I have always wanted. I watched it on amazon for a while until I caught the price fluxing low. I love the lid clamps. And not just for travel, but for storage too. it has a rubber O ring on it and the seal is great. The actual pot is thicker and has more substance than a crappier version. the programing is amazing. I have yet to use the thermometer but I am pretty excited to.
Best crockpot ever.

We chose this slow cooker after doing some research on reviews and ratings online. It has not disappointed! We are very happy with the options and ease of use, including the probe. Did a great job on pot roast with potatoes and carrots, even when our guests were late by several hours and needed to use the warm function all that time. It was not dried out, still very moist and kept perfect. Thank you Hamilton Beach for a great product, replacing our old CrockPot.

Finally gave in rather than continuing to deal with my old slow cooker running too hot and burning things if I didn’t keep an eye on it/ I didn’t get a slow cooker to have to watch it!! It was an authentic “Crock Pot.” Was very disappointing but I lived with it. For years.
Then I got a Ninja and it works well for many things. Ninja might be a slow cooker, but it does not have a stoneware insert, therefore cooks differently from those that do have the ceramic/stoneware insert.
This HB crock pot w/the digital options and STONEWARE INSERT cooks WONDERFULLY. Above my expectations. Had juicy, exactly right chicken though I admit to still watching to make sure. However, I know I won’t have to do that again as there are options that prevent the food from overcooking. Absolutely love this crock pot, am so sorry I waited so long to get it. Highly recommend.

My first recipe in this cooker was a bone-in, skin-on turkey breast. I used the probe and when it reached the desired temp it beeped and went to warm. The turkey was moist, not dried out at all, which happens to me a lot when cooking turkey in the oven. The only issue I have is the rubber seal around the lid is not attached uniformly and leaves a slight gap on one side so that I can see into the cooker. I don’t know if this makes much difference in the long run but I think I’ll try to get HB to send me another lid. Otherwise I love this slow cooker!

I purchased this for my home, but as a request from my girlfriend. It’s fall now, so it’s great weather for some comfy home cooked/slow cooked meals. When she was unboxing it and assembling it (very easy to put together and not much to it), the first words that came out of her mouth were “Babe this thing is bad a$$!” She made a pot roast the other night in this thing… it turned out REALLY damn good. The meat thermometer that fits in the little hole so you don’t even have to lift the top is INGENIUS. I’m no expert on Crockpots, but this should’ve always been a feature on them (from what I remember as a child… Ours definitely did not have that). The rest of the features are great and the auto timer is amazing for those “gotta run to the store and grab items a. and b.) Two thumbs up!

I was on the lookout for a slow cooker I could program timing and temp and this one was a great purchase. I love that I can set the temp, time and then it will kick automatically to keep warm once it is finished. It is a nice large size for a bigger family or meal and easy easy to clean. I just throw the bowl part and lid in my dishwasher and then wash out the metal piece. HIGHLY recommend!

I’ve had this for about a year now and I just love it! I don’t enjoy cooking and we wanted to save some money – we’d been getting a lot of take-out. It definitely has helped us not only eat healthier, but also has saved us quite a bit. So easy to use and a great size. I usually double any recipes and freeze half of it for a later date. The only drawback I see, though, is the weight of the insert. It’s a bit cumbersome to wash due to being so heavy. On the positive side, it’s very easy to wipe down – even dried out food comes off rather easily.

I absolutely love this crockpot. It’s so classy looking and easy to clean. You just prepare your recipes into it and set the digital timer and your heat level as you need. It cooks everything so beautifully and my house always smells so good!
