I have always had the stove top version of a takoyaki pan that was heavy and made of cast iron. While I loved that pan in college due to the round burners I had, my new apartment did not have the same set up. Most of my takoyaki ended up being burnt or unevenly cooked. In comes this nonstick takoyaki pan! It’s lightweight, easy to use, and cooks the takoyaki very evenly! While I wish I could be able to adjust the heat (definite benefit to my old pan), I really enjoy making takoyaki in this new pan.

Item Purchased to make takoyaki. As noted in other reviews surface does heat evenly but not very badly did three batches and got the hang of it did a pretty good job of making the takoyaki however the item came with two wooden handles metal pics to turn takoyaki. I thought it was odd considering that there was a nonstick coating. i Instructions noted no metal should be used on the item but as I said these implements came packaged with the item and no instructions on exactly how to use them only to use them to turn the takoyaki balls. Additionally item said that after turning machine on- once the On indicator light turns off the item would be heated correctlyon indicator light turns. After waiting two hours item indicator light would not turn off but The item was very hard so I proceeded to make the takoyaki. As noted in other reviews, there was some browning unevenness but nothing that would be very considerable . The takoyaki cocked well. After item coolEd, I washed item gently with soap and dampened cloth. I noticed that there were fine scratches all over and inside the cups -obviously from those metal forks that were included with the item. The biggest concern was that the i struction pamphlet notes that the coating-although harmless to humans—produces a gas that has affected the nervous system of many birds! I am returning regardless of whether or not it’s dangerous to humans -still presents are concerned for me as does the indicator light issue that did not turn off when it’s stated it should. item doesn’t come with Any type of cover to protect the cups during storage . This item should be no more that $12-$15-tops.

My wife asked a Takoyaki maker for a long while. Found this small, compact, light weight maker and it was a success to make fresh Takoyaki. Don’t have to worry the power controls and easy to clean.

I never made takoyaki and was debating between a pan for my stove or the full electric. I figured when I cook Japanese I tend to need all the stovetop space I can get so I went with this all electric one. First off it is non stick so do NOT use the skewers they send as they are metal. Their own instructions say not to use them, so why even include them? I used a bamboo skewer and had no problems rotating the balls. The heat was even, so no problems there. I did use bacon instead of octopus, but 100% of people who tried them have demanded I make more. So I can say I would definitely reccomend for ease of use and delicious finished product.
