Keto Chocolate Milkshake: Tasty Indulgence

Diet Plans, Blog

YouTube video

One of my favorite aspects of running a keto chocolate milkshake…

…recipe blog is that I always have delicious keto treats on hand.

Almost every other day, I try to come up with new recipe…

…and I usually do a few test runs before deciding on the final ingredients…

…for a recipe I want to share. As a result, I usually have a variety…

…of treats at home, and if neither my boyfriend nor I decide…

…to sacrifice ourselves for the greater good, the treats are discarded.

(I mean, I don’t have much of a choice, right?)

Have you tried keto chocolate milkshake?

But, because I’m always working on a new recipe…

…with the best milk ingredients that i use. I rarely make…

…the same treats twice. It would simply be too much to eat…

…the new creations while also making the old ones.

Except for a few that are truly delectable….

This keto chocolate milkshake, for example…

It’s getting hot in Germany right now, so a cold treat is always welcome…

…and this chocolate milkshake is so simple to make that…

…I’ve made it several times since I first published the recipe.

The ease of a recipe directly correlates to how often…

…I make a sweet keto treat for myself, and

..this one checks all the boxes:

  • you can make it in under 5 minutes
  • you only need 5 ingredients (and you probably already have all of them at home if you’ve been keto for a while)
  • it tastes amazing and tastes exactly like the real thing.

Let’s hear Al’s experience…

It is just sad when you are on keto diet and you crave something sweet…

Thank god, recently I discovered a chocolate milkshake recipe.

Keto diet is now easier.

Before we start…

A Short History of the Milkshake

Are you aware that the first “milkshakes” were alcoholic?

The first time the term milkshake appeared in print,…

…it referred to a drink made with eggs and whiskey!

It was back in 1885, and it didn’t last. By 1900…

…it had come to refer to a flavored drink made with syrup…

…such as chocolate or strawberry.

In 1922, Walgreens employee Pop Coulson added ice cream…

…to malted milk and created the first milkshakes as we know them today.

A number of countries became enamored with milkshakes…

…as a result of this combination.

With the invention of the Freon-cooled refrigerator…

…and the automated milkshake machine in the 1930s…

…milkshakes became even more popular, securing their place in food history!

Here we go…

Keto Chocolate Milkshake Ingredients:

This section is where I go a bit more in-depth…

…about the ingredients you’ll need for this recipe.

(You can find the exact amounts needed on the recipe card that’s embedded below this section!)

almond milk: unsweetened almond milk will be the base of our recipe. Almond milk is incredibly low carb (Only about 0.2g/100g) and doesn’t have a strong taste of its own which makes it perfect for recipes like this.

in case you are looking for it, here’s what I recommend you!

heavy cream: I already make other keto milkshake recipes that don’t necessarily require heavy cream to taste good, but in this recipe it’s a must in my opinion. A chocolate milkshake has to have a creamy mouthfeel – low carb or not!

in case you are looking for it, here’s what I recommend you!

If you still don’t feel like you’ve gotten enough calories…

…or fat on that particular day, top your chocolate milkshake…

…with sugar-free whipped cream!

It tastes delicious (and looks fantastic), but keep in mind…

…that it will add a significant amount of calories to your diet…

…which can quickly add up.

sugar-free cacao powder: Make sure it has no added sugar! 100% cacao powder will add a strong chocolate taste without adding a lot of carbs.

liquid sweetener: Probably one of the few times in my life where I don’t recommend erythritol. (If this is your first time on my blog you should know that I’m pretty religious about how much I love erythritol for my other sweet recipes).

However, because erythritol does not dissolve well in water…

…it is unsuitable for this recipe. It’ll just collect at the bottom…

…which isn’t a pleasant milkshake experience.

Instead, I recommend using any liquid sweetener you like …

…anything you like is fine. I don’t care for liquid stevia…

…because I’m one of those unfortunate souls who can detect the aftertaste…

…so I switched to a sucralose-based sweetener.

Storing and Freezing Chocolate Milkshake

Milkshakes must be stored without whipped cream…

…if they are to be stored later. It is recommended to store milkshakes…

…covered in the refrigerator for up to five days.

Whip the whipped cream into the milkshake before you serve it….

You can freeze the milkshake for up to 6 months…

…by placing it in a freezer-friendly glass container.

Before eating, let it come to room temperature….

How to Make a Chocolate Milkshake Without Ice Cream.

In a traditional milkshake, ice cream is used, but on a low carb diet..

…sugar-free ice creams or keto-friendly ice creams may not always be available…

…and if they are, they might contain unnatural sweeteners or flavors.

It’s surprisingly easy to make a delicious..

…creamy milkshake without ice cream.

For this recipe, I use heavy cream to create that smooth…

…creamy texture of a milkshake, then I add ice to thicken it.

Getting the creamiest texture requires blending the ice…

…as much as possible when making this milkshake.

Is Cocoa Powder Good For You?

Cocoa powder is similar to chocolate, yet it does not have…

…the added sugars of traditional chocolate bars.

Antioxidants are abundant in cocoa powder…

They are believed to have numerous health benefits…

…such as reducing high blood pressure, improving blood flow…

…and reducing inflammation. To avoid any additional carbs…

…choose unsweetened cocoa powder when purchasing.

These are my recommendation…

Raw cacao is full of antioxidants called flavanols. Eating foods rich in flavanols has a variety of health benefits for your body,
