As a zesty dip with tortilla chips or as a topping…

…for your favorite Mexican tacos, burritos, or enchiladas…

…serve my farm fresh cherry tomato salsa.

Because cherry tomatoes are inherently sweet, this salsa is delicious as wel…

…and it’s made without sugar!

Who loves gluten free food?

Cherry tomato salsa is whole 30, paleo, gluten-free…

…and dairy-free, and is blended with onion, garlic…

…and jalapeo for a little heat.

Most importantly, it’s wonderful and fresh!

Pico de Gallo, often known as salsa fresca, is made…

…with the same recipe and has a thicker consistency. To do this…

…dice the vegetables by hand rather than using a blender to keep the mixture lumpy.

Do you enjoy chips and salsa as much as I do?

Roasting tomatillos, garlic, and onions gives my homemade…

…salsa verde a rich and earthy flavor. Alternatively, try my fresh corn salsa…

…which goes great with grilled catfish, or fruit salsa with cinnamon tortilla chips.

I’m sure most of people has their own story with cherry tomato salsa….

Here is Gwen’s..

I always remember my Grandma’s vegetable garden…

along the river bank on her farm when I see the farmer’s markets…

brimming with fresh tomatoes each summer.

So many of the ranch’s dishes were based on these cherry tomatoes…

Their sweetness is a wonderful combination with the spiciness…

of the peppers to give the sauce a unique flavor that other tomatoes can’t provide.

Do you want to start make it? let’s go!

…at a restaurant that serves “endless” chips and salsa!

Of course, I’m joking, but I’m serious about salsa.

What is it about homemade salsa that makes it so tasty?

NO PRESERVATIVES, ONLY FRESH INGREDIENTS…

This homemade salsa is a hit with everyone…

including my husband, who swears he doesn’t like tomatoes.

Why you need to use fresh ingredients? Here is why…

Benefits Of Fresh Cherry Tomato

Good for Your Waistline

The key to losing weight is eating foods that keep you full…

…without consuming too many calories. Cherry tomatoes fit the bill perfectly.

There are only 30 calories in ten cherry tomatoes, which is about a cup…

On a 1,500-calorie diet, those 10 cherry tomatoes only provide…

…2 percent of your daily calories.

With 2 grams of fiber per cup, the red veggie is not only…

…low in calories but also a good source of fiber.

Making it a point to add more fiber to your diet may help you lose a few pounds…

…according to a 2015 study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

By eating cherry tomatoes, you may feel fuller longer…

…thereby consuming fewer calories throughout the day.

Potassium and Blood Pressure

With 400 milligrams of potassium, ten cherry tomatoes…

….have almost as much potassium as a medium banana.

Lowering your blood pressure may be achieved by eating more potassium-rich foods…

Your body excretes sodium more efficiently when you consume potassium…

…improving fluid balance and reducing pressure on your arteries.

Cherry tomatoes can help you meet almost 10 percent of your…

…daily potassium needs. Adults require 4,700 milligrams of potassium a day.

If your doctor has expressed concern about the health of your kidneys…

…you may want to ask them whether it’s okay for you to eat…

…potassium-rich foods like cherry tomatoes.

Protection Against Free Radicals

Keeping your body free of toxins may lower your risk of developing…

…a variety of chronic illnesses, including as heart disease and cancer.

Vitamin C, lycopene, and beta carotene, all antioxidants…

…found in tomatoes, are among those that provide such protection.

Lycopene, in particular, has been related to a lower incidence…

…of cancers such as prostate, lung, and stomach cancer. Tomatoes…

…particularly cherry tomatoes, are excellent suppliers of lycopene.

Eat your cherry tomatoes with a little fat, such as your favorite salad dressing…

…or sauté them in olive oil, to get the maximum lycopene out of them.

Like other types of tomatoes, cherry tomatoes are a wonderful source of lycopene .

Cherry Tomato Benefit

Now this is fun way to eat them…

Salsa ingredients

  • Cherry tomatoes — Choose ripe cherry tomatoes with a gorgeous rich color for the finest flavor. You can use one or both of the red and yellow kinds of cherry tomatoes in this recipe. Alternatively, any other best tomatoes variety, such as grape tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, or Campari tomatoes, can be used (which have more flesh and less seeds).
  • Onion — Either white onion, green onions, or sweet onions work in this recipe, so use whatever you have on hand!
  • Jalapeño pepper — Leave the seeds in for a spicier salsa. Try serano peppers as an alternative, or leave the peppers out entirely for a mild salsa.
  • Cilantro — Many people have an aversion to cilantro (like my husband), so this ingredient is totally optional.
  • Lime juice — Absolutely use fresh squeezed lime juice, not the bottled kind. The secret to great salsa is adjusting the ratio of lime and salt until you get the perfect balance.

Special Equipment Needed

  • Food processor — When I need a food processor or blender, I use my Ninja blender. It’s strong and dishwasher safe, making cleanup a pleasure. My Ninja also comes with a second smoothie cup that serves as both a blending and serving cup – very handy!
  • Fine Mesh Strainer — You’ll want to strain off extra juice for the best salsa consistency and texture.

Now you ready to make cherry tomato salsa!

How to Make Cherry Tomato Salsa

STEP 1 of Cherry Tomato Salsa | Chop onion, jalapeño, and garlic

  • Roughly chop the onion and add to the bowl of a food processor or mini chopper.
  • Remove the seeds from an jalapeño pepper — or leave them in for extra spicy salsa — and cut it into large chunks.
  • Add the jalapeño and garlic to the food processor and pulse until everything is finely diced.

STEP 2 of Cherry Tomato Salsa | Add cherry tomatoes

  • Add the cherry tomatoes and pulse until the salsa is the consistency you desire — I like mine a bit chunky.
  • Tomato skins contain antioxidants which are believed to reduce the risk of cancers and heart disease. That’s a good reason to enjoy eating salsa!
  • If you like cilantro, add a bunch now and pulse again a couple of times.

STEP 3 of Cherry Tomato Salsa | Strain the tomato mixture

  • To make sure your salsa doesn’t end up watery, strain the tomato mixture through a mesh strainer to remove the excess juices.

STEP 4 of Cherry Tomato Salsa | Season and serve

  • Add the strained tomato mixture to a bowl and squeeze in fresh lime juice (start with half a lime).
  • Add sea salt and black pepper. Give it a stir and taste, then adjust the amount of lime and salt to your liking.
