Cuisinart Electronic Yogurt Maker is a fantastic yogurt maker. It does take some time, but it’s not tough, and the most of the prep work is done without your involvement. We’d seen DIY yogurt recipes for slow cookers and pressure cookers, but a dedicated yogurt maker simplifies the process even more.

This famous Cuisinart electronic yogurt maker is exceptionally efficient; it can create up to 50 ounces per batch and automatically shifts from heating to chilling mode to maintain your yogurt at the right temperature. We brought it home and tested it ourselves to see if it lived up to its many excellent online reviews, examining everything from its design to its performance. Cuisinart Electronic Yogurt Maker Design: Super intuitive

It’s simple to set up this yogurt machine. Its user handbook offers recipes, recommendations, and instructions for making several types of yogurt, which is very useful if you’ve never made yogurt before. The appliance also boasts a high-end style; the white, grey, and stainless steel design sits out on the counter looking clean and contemporary.

In terms of size, the item is quite large: it stands at 10 inches tall, making it difficult to store in our cabinets. However, we like that the yogurt container is similarly tall and narrow because it takes up very little fridge room. The fact that the power cord detaches is also a plus.

The main drawback to this yogurt maker’s performance is that it does not run quietly.

Although the maker claims that the 50-ounce yogurt container and lid are BPA-free, it may not be the best option for people who prefer to avoid plastic in the kitchen. Also, if you prefer individually portioned yogurts, this machine might not be for you. You can prepare enough yogurt for a week’s worth of servings with just one batch, but you’ll have to dish it out yourself. It takes a little more time and effort, but if you’re used to buying large tubs of yogurt, it’s not a big concern.

The flexibility of this yogurt maker to automatically convert from heating to cooling mode is its true selling point. In theory, you can leave a batch of yogurt to ferment all day or overnight, then cool it so it’s ready to eat for breakfast when you get up.

Cuisinart Electronic Yogurt Maker Performance: Basically Does All the Work For You

Because this was our first time producing yogurt, we conducted some research before getting started. We prefer thicker yogurt, so we heated our milk before adding the starter culture, as directed on the package. (If you’re short on time, you can put the milk and culture directly into the yogurt maker, but the yogurt will be thinner.) We heated 4 cups organic whole milk in a saucepan and used a kitchen thermometer to keep track of the temperature as directed. Then we stirred in a packet of freeze-dried starter culture (which we bought separately) and poured it into the yogurt machine.

Our homemade plain yogurt was smooth and creamy, and it tasted much fresher than store-bought types. Looking for the best yogurt maker? We have a list you can check!

The built-in automated timer function is really useful, as it allows us to pick between one and 24 hours of fermentation heating time without having to set another timer to remind you to return and turn off the yogurt maker. We discovered that eight hours of fermentation time (the suggested period for whole milk) followed the initial heating step resulted in a tangy, excellent yogurt that was just thick enough for our preferences.

(Be prepared to spend some time fine-tuning the process to suit your yogurt preferences.) In our initial few batches of yogurt, we didn’t experiment with any flavors, but we hope to do so in the future. Our homemade plain yogurt was smooth and creamy, and it tasted much fresher than store-bought types. To liven up each serving, we added fresh fruit, honey, and granola, or a tablespoon of fruit preserves. We were proud of our homemade yogurt, despite the fact that it took minimal effort on our part!

The main drawback to this yogurt maker’s performance is that it does not run quietly. The noise isn’t persistent, but we noticed that the machine noisily blew air out of its side vents during startup and roughly every 10 to 20 minutes after that.
