Instant Pot Baked Potatoes – fluffy potatoes cooked in a pressure cooker. There’s no need for foil!

These potatoes are delicious with Easy Grilled Chicken or Parmesan Tilapia. I used to make baked potatoes in my slow cooker before I got the Instant Pot digital pressure cooker. If you don’t have a pressure cooker, this is a great way to cook them. This method, on the other hand, is much faster, and I can have perfectly fluffy baked potatoes ready in 20 minutes, ready for our favorite toppings.

Instant Pot Baked Potatoes

Fill these Instant Pot Baked Potatoes with leftover chili, pulled BBQ pork or chicken, or Mexican quinoa for a quick lunch. They’re also fantastic with cheese sauce or spinach artichoke dip on top. Tasty! You should also try my recipe for Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes. This is a huge time saver!

How To Make Instant Pot Baked Potatoes?

  • Use the wire trivet that came with the Instant Pot digital pressure cooker to cook your potatoes. Fill the stainless steel insert halfway with water and place the potatoes on the trivet.
  • Close the lid and set the valve to “sealing.” For medium potatoes, set the timer for 14 minutes. Make sure the IP is set to high pressure cooking.
  • When the timer beeps, press the “cancel/off” button and let the Instant Pot naturally release the pressure for about 4 minutes. Switch the valve to the “venting” position and quickly release the pressure.
  • Remove the potatoes from the pressure cooker with kitchen tongs and place them on a platter. Done! Your potatoes are ready to be served!

It’s important to poke the potatoes with a fork. It allows the steam from the potatoes to escape during cooking.

No foil is needed to cook the potatoes in your pressure cooker.

How Long To Cook Instant Pot Baked Potatoes?

I started testing this recipe at 12 minutes. The potatoes were cooked, but they were a little too firm for my taste. They were soft and fluffy inside after 14 minutes of cooking. I used potatoes that were medium in size. If you are using small ones, 12 minutes should suffice. Cook for an additional 2 minutes if using large potatoes.

It took my Instant Pot about 8 minutes to reach pressure.

  1. Make sure the stainless steel insert is inside the Instant Pot. Add one cup of cold water to insert.

  3. Place wire rack inside the insert. Arrange potatoes on the rack.

To cook the potatoes in your electric pressure cooker, no foil is required.

Make sure you’re filling the Instant Pot with cold water. The time it takes the IP to come to pressure, the cooking time, and the final result will all be affected if you use warm water.
