How Long Should Salmon Be Baked in the Oven?

The cooking time for this simple dish is not very long.

You can simply bake the salmon here for about 10-15…

…minutes in a preheated oven at 400 degrees F.

In no time, you can have a tasty and healthy dinner!

However, you must adjust the cooking times according to…

…how thick the salmon slice is.

More information…

The US Food and Drug Administration recommends…

…that salmon fillets be cooked to 145 F.

Salmon can be tested with a thermometer or with a fork.

For the result…

Fillets should be twisted slightly with a fork after they…

…have been inserted into their centers. If it comes out…

…flaky opaque and moist, you’re good to go.

What to Serve with Oven Baked Salmon?

With so much flavor on top of these salmon fillets…

… you can serve it with other vegetables (like some…

…roasted Brussels sprouts) or eat it alone.

The following are some of my favorite sides to serve…

…with the oven baked salmon:

  • Sautéed Kale
  • Honey Glazed Carrots
  • Green Beans and Bacon
  • Rice Pilaf
  • Roasted Red Potatoes

But sometimes, I like to serve my oven baked salmon…

…only with honey glazed carrots and roasted…

…red potatoes.

Here’s my favorite honey to use…

Consider These Things Before You Make The Oven Baked Salmon

Buy High Quality Salmon

You can find several types of salmon, including king salmon…

…(chinook) silver salmon (coho), pink salmon (humpback)…

…red salmon (sockeye), and Atlantic salmon.

When it baked in the oven, any of these salmon species will…

…taste delicious.

Have you prepared this? No?

Don’t worry, we already choose the selected salmon…

…to make your oven baked salmon taste better!

This salmon is a healthy source of omega-3 fatty…

…acids, which help control your cholesterol.

Basically…

I don’t have enough time to go to the fresh market, so…

…I found this and I tried to order it here. I guarantee it’s…

…fresh because they came with an iced box and delivered…

…to your door, so you can enjoy it without any effort!

Here Are Our Top Picks:

Check for Freshness

You should choose a salmon filet that has firm flesh…

…if you are purchasing one at the store. Don’t be afraid…

…to poke it!

The reasons…

If it springs back into place when you press the fillet gently…

…this is a good sign!

You should choose a fish that is fresher if your fingerprints…

…linger in the fillet, and look for a bright orange-red hue in…

…the fillet and well-marbled skin.

The point…

Darkening around the edges of the fish or brown/yellow…

…discoloration in the flesh is sign of a problem.

This is NOT a sign of freshness. If the eyes of the salmon…

…are cloudy, choose the clear bright eyes over the sunken…

…cloudy eyes. Fresh eyes are a good indicator of freshness.

Make sure the flesh of the fish feels firm not floppy when…

…you hold it.

What’s more?

Thaw Salmon Properly

After purchasing fresh fish, store it in the freezer or…

…refrigerator until you’re ready to use it (max. 2 days).

Make sure to let the fish sit on the counter for a few…

…hours before baking it.

Cooking the food this way will ensure that it looks more…

…evenly. If thawing frozen fish, place it either in the freezer…

…overnight or in a sealed bag under cold running water until…

…it thaws quickly.

Take a note!

Don’t use hot water or any type of heat on your salmon!

Don’t Marinate Salmon Too Long

In contrast to beef and chicken, where we love to…

…marinate for an hour or longer. with salmon, we…

…don’t want to add seasoning too early (particularly salt).

When left for an extended period of time, salt may…

…draw out too much moisture.

So, season salmon just before baking for the best results of…

…an oven baked salmon and use the right ingredients.

One more thing!

After we tested the recipes of oven baked salmon and…

…comparing the ingredients we found that it’s best…

…to use fresh herbs like basil, oregano, or rosemary.

I’ve compiled all of these ingredients because they…

…work well with almost all savory dishes!

Check This Out:

Now, you better not doing all of this!

Don’t Remove the Skin Before Baking

Salmon is typically eaten without the skin. However…

…you should still leave the skin on until you bake it.

You should always bake salmon with its skin down…

…to protect it from the heat of the pan and to help it…

…retain its juices and cook evenly.

Don’t Overcook Your Salmon

When you start to make an oven baked salmon, it is…

…possible to overcook salmon.

Salmon is usually served medium-rare in restaurants…

…though some prefer it cooked a little longer.

Here’s the kicker!

Remove salmon from the oven before it is “done”…

…as it will continue to cook while it rests.

Salmon fillets of varying thickness will require different…

…cooking times.

How to test it…

A sharp knife can also be used to peek inside the thickest…

…part of the fillet to determine whether it is done.

Ideally, the salmon’s layers should flake apart easily and…

…appear opaque.

Moreover…

We recommend using a thermometer to make sure…

…your salmon is cooked properly. It’s easy, it takes…

…only a few seconds, and you can make sure that…

…everyone gets their food at the same doneness level.

Try To Use This!

Sum Up

I promise this is one of the easiest recipes you’ll…

…ever make a delicious oven baked salmon! All…

…you need is a few simple ingredients.

I love to cook salmon because it’s so quick, healthy…

…and delicious! Yummy.
