How to install a fireclay farmhouse sink
Fireclay sinks are unique and designed for heavy-duty use. Fireclay is a solid substance that makes each sink difficult to chisel and extremely weighty. We recommend raising the sink with at least two people. Fireclay sinks will require additional support and cabinet alteration. Nota: Installation by a professional is recommended.
- On a scrap of craft paper or cardboard, trace the rim of the sink. Measure the distance between the basin’s edge and the lip’s inside edge. Incorporate a second line within the first in accordance with this dimension. To create your cut out sheet, cut on the second line.
- Measure the front apron of the sink and trim the cabinet front to accommodate the sink.
- Insert the sink support into the base of the cabinet. Refer to stages 4–6.
- In the cabinet base, install two lengths of 24’s front to back. Construct the support framework and ledge for the Fireclay sink.
- Vertically attach a length of 24 to each corner of the sink base to construct support legs right beneath the sink.
- The sink should be installed 1/8″ below the top of the cabinets, allowing ample clearance for the countertop installation. Utilize a level to ensure that the sink is level and will drain properly.
- Secure the sink to the support framework using screws. Create a watertight barrier by applying a bead of silicone sealant between the rim of the sink and the countertop. Connect the drain beneath the sink according to the manufacturer’s directions, and the sink is ready to use. Avoid overtightening your garbage disposal drain, as this may cause harm to your kitchen sink. Make a watertight seal between the drain and the sink using plumbers putty.
- Using your pattern, cut the countertop and install it. Create a watertight barrier by applying a bead of silicone sealant between the rim of the sink and the countertop.
