Benefits of splatter guard
Many types of food are best cooked using solid fats, especially olive oil due to its neutral flavor. However, since this type of fat is liquid at room temperature, it has a tendency to spill over if you use a flat-bottom pan. This causes burns on floors, walls, countertops, etc., as well as ruining whatever you were trying to cook on the bottom of the pan.
To avoid this problem, you need some kind of “guard” that keeps the oil contained inside its container. These can be either disposable or reusable.
