Juice for headache? is there any types of juice for it?
Dehydration, stress, tension, infections, inflammatory diseases, allergies, environmental factors, tiredness, and abnormal blood sugars are all causes of headaches.
Headache
Headaches affect almost everyone at some point during their lives. The majority of people have had one before and many times this does not require treatment beyond over the counter medications like aspirin or ibuprofen. However if you notice that your child’s headache persists longer than 24 hours then it is advisable to seek professional help. Some children suffer from frequent episodes of severe headaches and these could indicate more serious underlying causes. These include brain tumors, meningitis, intracranial bleeding, subdural hematoma and pituitary gland dysfunction.
What Can Cause Headache
The most common cause of headaches are sinus problems or viral infection but they may also occur in conjunction with other medical conditions such as migraine, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, stroke, anemia, pregnancy, sleep deprivation, drug use, physical trauma to the head, emotional distress and nutritional deficiencies. A person who has migraines will often experience nausea, vomiting, visual disturbances, sensitivity to light and sound and extreme pain which usually lasts 4-72 hours after onset. It is important that you know what type of headache your child is experiencing so that you can treat them accordingly.
Juice for Headache
There are several different juices that are good for treating headaches. Here we list out all possible types of juices that are good for relieving headaches.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar helps relieve fever and reduce inflammation. This makes apple cider vinegar very useful when dealing with symptoms associated with flu like colds and sore throats. You can make fresh apple cider vinegar by adding 1 cup raw organic apples into a blender along with 2 cups water and blend until smooth. Then strain through cheesecloth to remove pulp and seeds. Store the liquid in glass bottle where it keeps well. Add 1/4 teaspoon each of honey and cinnamon powder to taste. Drink 3 teaspoons every hour while feeling sick. Continue drinking throughout the day till better.
Carrot Ginger Juice
Carrots contain beta carotene, vitamin B6, folic acid, potassium, magnesium and fiber; whereas ginger contains antioxidants, antihistamines, antiseptic properties, antiinflammatory agents, analgesic effects, sedative effect, and immune boosting properties. Make carrot ginger juice by blending carrots and grated ginger together. If desired add lemon juice and cayenne pepper powder to enhance its flavor. Mix well and drink three glasses per day.
Cranberry Juice
Cranberries are rich source of flavonoids, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidin, tannins, glycosides, vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre, phytosterols, phenolics and polyphenol compounds. They have been shown to prevent urinary tract infections among women due to their antimicrobial activity against E. coli bacteria. Cranberry juice is known to improve the body’s ability to fight off bacterial infections because of its high content of natural antibiotics called oligosaccaride sacharrines. Drinking cranberry juice daily reduces UTI risk.
Green Tea
Green tea contains caffeine, epigallocatechin gallate, polyphenols, amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins, trace elements and mineral salts. Its antioxidant property protects cells from damage caused by free radicals. It also boosts metabolism which improves digestion. A study showed that green tea extract was effective in reducing migraine frequency compared to placebo. It has no side-effects unlike other painkillers which may cause nausea, drowsiness and addiction potential. So try having a cup of green tea after meals.
Lemon Water
Lemon water is an excellent beverage for soothing headaches. It works as a diuretic agent helping the kidneys flush toxins from the system. Lemon water is best taken on empty stomach because it increases urination. To prepare lemon water mix equal amounts of freshly squeezed lemon juice and filtered tap water. Drink half a glass twice a day.
Orange Juice
Orange juice is packed with Vitamin C and bioflavonoid complex which helps boost energy levels. The orange peel contains citric acid, limonine, naringenin, hesperitin, narirutin, neohesperidine, quercetin, myrtillin, hesperetin, pectolinarin, eriodictyol etc. These substances help lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, stimulate circulation, detoxify the body, relieve stress and cure insomnia. Try drinking one or two glasses of fresh orange juice every morning before breakfast.
Papaya Fruit
Papaya fruit is loaded with papain enzyme, carotenes, Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, K, folates and iron. Carotenoids like lutein, zeaxanthin, lycopene and alpha-carotene are essential nutrients for vision health. Lutein and zeaxanthin protect eyes from UV radiation while Lycopene acts as an antioxidant. Papaya fruits are great sources of protein, calcium, phosphorus and zinc. In addition, it provides relief from constipation, diarrhea and indigestion. Eat 1/2 medium sized papaya about once a week.
Pineapple
Pineapples are good source of bromelains, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and fibres. Bromelain found in pineapples aids digestion and relieves muscle ache. Enzymes present in pineapple aid in breaking down food into smaller particles so they can be digested more easily. It also stimulates appetite and prevents overeating. Fibre contained in pineapple promotes regular bowel movements and keeps you feeling full longer. Add slices of pineapple to salads, sandwiches and soups. You could even enjoy this tropical treat as dessert!
Watermelon
If your head feels heavy and stuffy then drink plenty of fluids, especially if you feel nauseous. This will keep your brain well hydrated and alert. Also eat foods high in potassium such as bananas, oranges, apricots, tomatoes and spinach. Avoid salty snacks and drinks. If possible avoid alcohol altogether.
