How To Repair Grohe Kitchen Faucets

Is It Really the Spray Head That’s the Problem?

Before you get too worked up over repairing a Grohe kitchen faucet spray head, double-check that the issue is in the spray head and not elsewhere in the faucet. To remove the spray head, screw the cap above the spray head counterclockwise while holding it in place with one hand. To remove the spray head, lift the cap out of the way and pull hard down on it.

Turn on the water after removing the spray head. Is the water flowing as it should, or does the water pressure appear to be too low? If a strong and consistent stream emerges from the faucet hose without the spray head, search for the fault with the spray head’s components. If the water flow is poor, the problem is most likely with the hose, cartridge, or supply line.

Taking off the Check Valve

Check valves keep water from running backwards through the faucet and contaminating the supply. They can become obstructed at times, preventing water from flowing at its normal rate. A check valve is included within the spray head of Grohe kitchen faucets, and some versions have a second check valve located above the cartridge in the faucet’s neck.

Hook the middle of the check valve with a screwdriver and pull it up. To remove any debris, use a forceful stream of water to flush both sides of the check valve. When you’re finished, replace the check valve.

The Flow Restrictor is Removed

The flow restrictor is designed to lower the quantity of water that runs through the faucet, saving you money in the long run on your water bill. A flow restrictor, on the other hand, may get blocked with calcium deposits and produce insufficient water flow. A flow restrictor is usually found behind the aerator, which is the spray head’s outermost component. Flow restrictors are occasionally positioned in front of or behind the check valve.

Start by unscrewing the spray head for easier access when removing a Grohe flow restrictor. Push out the inner ring that locks the aerator in place using the tab on a Grohe faucet key, which comes with the faucet but may also be purchased separately. The faucet key’s spherical part should now fit over the aerator’s center. Twist it counterclockwise until it fully emerges.

This aerator should be placed behind the flow restrictor, which looks like a circular bobbin with a series of holes punched into it. If necessary, take it out using needle-nose pliers. Clean the flow restrictor if it appears to be unclean. Otherwise, try removing the restrictor entirely to see if the problem goes away.

Replacement Faucet Head for Grohe

The only option in some cases is to obtain a replacement faucet head from the Grohe website. If the check valve and flow restrictor pass your inspection but you can’t change the output from spray to stream, you’ll need to replace the spray head. It’s impossible to fix an adjustment button on your own. Fortunately, obtaining replacement components on the Grohe website is simple, particularly if you know the specific model number.
